Ivan Lendl: Alphonse Mucha

branding / logo / visual identity / communication campaign / monograph / print materials / interior design

In 2013, the Municipal House Gallery in Prague presented a unique exhibition of Alphonse Mucha posters from Ivan Lendl's private collection. The former best tennis player in the world began collecting works by Alphonse Mucha, a world-famous Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, at the beginning of the 1980’s. Ivan Lendl has collected more than one hundred and fifty of Mucha's posters and artifacts, which is the most complete collection of this artist in the world.

The connection of both personalities is expressed by the logo; the simple typographic form placing a colon between the two names evokes the score of the tennis match. The graphic minimalist logo perfectly complements the decorative character of Mucha's posters. As a part of the brief, a unique publication in Czech and English was also designed, which presents previously unseen sketches and studies of Mucha's posters to the public.

The exhibition was visited by almost two hundred thousand visitors and became the most visited art exhibition in the history of the Czech Republic.

Role in the project: author, creative director, design supervisor, graphic designer.
Created for Dynamo.
